My Burning Hell t-shirt...

Ever since the lineup for Sappyfest was announced I’ve wanted to get my butt to Sackville, New Brunswick in time to partake in the festivities. Hell, I’ve had a general itch to take a trip out east for a while now and this seemed to be the perfect excuse. That said, strapped for cash and without a car I had begun to lose hope in actually being able to make the trip.

Enter Mathias Kom, saviour of my maritime aspirations.

After a brief conversation before The Burning Hell’s gig at the Tranzac last week Mathias graciously offered to let my girlfriend and I tag along with the band. The only stipulation was that we would have to accompany them on a mini-tour on the way to the festival. Needless to say, this was not a proposition that I found off-putting in the slightest! Add to that the fact that the convoy also includes Wax Mannequin, another WHK favourite, and there was really no way I could pass on the opportunity.

In fact, through the wonders of delayed posting, by the time this is published we’ll have already spent a night in Montreal and should be on our way to St. John, New Brunswick.

I do have to admit though, while this is a great chance to get on the road for a little while, it’s also a perfect  excuse for me to ditch the laptop for a week.   That means there won’t be many posts until I’m back sometime in early August, but rest assured, I’ll have cameras in tow and will be collecting as much footage and as many pictures of the touring antics as possible.

Sappyfest here I come!
