Here’s a quick one: the nominees for this year’s SOCAN Echo Songwriting Prize were recently announced and you can cast your vote for who takes home the $5,000.

Personally, I was happy to see a tune by Sandro Perri make the cut, as Tiny Mirrors was definitely one of my favourite albums from 2007.  He’s up against some stiff competition though. Heavyweights like The Weakerthans are guaranteed some pull—not to mention Wintersleep’s “Weighty Ghost”, which took everyone by storm when it came out (yours truly included).
